Hello Highcroft families!
My name is Ms. Johnston and I have the great pleasure of teaching music at Highcroft Drive Elementary School. This will be my fifteenth year of teaching general music in the classroom. I really love teaching elementary music! It is wonderful helping students learn about music and how important it is in their lives. I have also taught middle school general music and elementary/middle school band before moving to North Carolina. After school, I teach private piano and woodwind lessons which I have been doing since 1994. I studied the clarinet and voice at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where I earned my Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education with a minor in Psychology. I have also completed my Level 1 Orff Certification. I have taught a variety of teacher training courses, beginning band summer school, folk dance classes and was the UWSP clarinet instructor for middle and high school summer band camp. I have a 16-year-old son who is the joy of my life. When I am not at school I love to spend time outdoors camping, kayaking, and swimming. I also enjoy scrapbooking, photography, spending time with my family and friends and watching my favorite sport teams. It's going to be another great year making music at HDE! Go Huskies!
